Alison Finch trained as a fashion designer at Harrow School of Art, Westminster University, and has worked in the garment industry for many years in fashion and textiles.
Her love of print and pattern is reflected in her photography and painting. In recent years Alison was based in Shanghai, China which was a rich source of material. The old town in Shanghai, contrasting against the new modern high rises, the fast pace of change in China.
Travelling to the Yunnan, Guizhou and Tibet she was inspired by the minority tribes, such as the Miao, still wearing traditional dress, hence the photographic exhibition 'Chinese Characters".
Since 2013 Alison has spent time painting in watercolour and 'relearning' digital textile design and photoshop, as time has moved on since the 70s!
A range of cards was launched at Top Drawer in September 2015 This range has grown over the last year to over a hundred designs and is shown at Top Drawer and PG LIve in May/June.
This September a collection of voile printed scarves was added and can be found on the website and on Etsy.
Alongside the cards and textile design Alison carries on painting botanical art and is a member of SWSBA.
Three paintings were selected to be hung at the Society of Botanical Artists Annual Exhibition, April 2015 and various other exhibitons.
